Compiere Continues Expansion of Open Source ERP Solution with New Business Analytics, Functional and Technical Advancements in Release 3.1

New Release Adds Secure Integration with Third Party Analysis and Reporting Tools, Among More than 400 Additional Enhancements

With more than 400 new business analysis, functional and technical enhancements, Compiere 3.1 provides global partners and customers with an easy to deploy, adaptable open source business solution that dramatically lowers acquisition and deployment costs compared to older, proprietary technology.

Secure Business View Layer Opens Compiere to Third-party Analysis Tools

Compiere 3.1 advances customer's ability to easily and securely analyze business data using their choice of third-party reporting and analysis tools. The newly introduced Business View Layer enables end-users and report designers to access ERP data through Compiere's rich application-level security controls. Compiere 3.1 ships with pre-defined business views that span customer, vendor, product, sales order, invoice and shipment data. Customers can easily add additional secured business views on their own. The Compiere Business View Layer integrates with open source and other third-party analysis and reporting tools, such as Jasper Reports, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Excel and Pentaho Business Intelligence Suite.

Functional Improvements for Distribution and Manufacturing Industries

Compiere 3.1 includes new and enhanced functionality across its global financial management, purchasing, materials management, manufacturing, order management, sales and service application suite. New manufacturing capabilities include multi-level bill of materials, work-in-process tracking and costing, work order transactions and seamless integration with Compiere's existing materials management, purchasing, sales order management and financial systems.

Additional customer-driven improvements for distribution and other industries include:

  • Support for user-defined payment schedules and payment dates;
  • Granular control over the definition and processing of invoice batches;
  • Up to five levels of precision for defining inventory locators within warehouses;
  • Simplified costing controls with new products and on-hand quantity adjustments; and
  • Hypertext data type for integration with document management systems.

Technology and Scalability Improvements

Compiere 3.1 adds compatibility with the latest database, middleware and browser technology, providing customers with improved scalability and deployment flexibility. Newly supported products include Oracle 11g, EnterpriseDB Postgres Plus 8.3, Red Hat JBoss 4.2.2, Sun Java Runtime Environment 6, and Mozilla Firefox 3.0. Compiere 3.1 provides continuing support for Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, the Oracle 10g database, and Internet Explorer 6 and 7 and Firefox 2 browsers.

Compiere 3.1 is available immediately in three editions. Compiere Community Edition is the world's most popular open source enterprise application. Introduced in 2001, Compiere Community Edition includes all core ERP and CRM functionality, Compiere's Model-driven Application Platform for customizing business rules without programming, and a platform-independent Java client. Compiere Standard Edition delivers all of the open source software and functionality of Compiere Community Edition and includes technical support, product updates and utilities for managing the migration to later Compiere releases. Compiere Professional Edition offers advanced capabilities such as the new Business View Layer, a modern Web user interface and premium services and support. Compiere Standard Edition and Compiere Professional Edition subscriptions are available immediately through Compiere Authorized Partners.
